It was a privilege for the Westcombe Group to act as the headline sponsor of the British Asian Trust’s Annual Dinner and Reception last night, held in the presence of His Majesty The King, Royal Founding Patron of the British Asian Trust.
The evening celebrated the extraordinary work of the British Asian Trust, which is transforming and enriching lives right across South Asia. The event itself raised more than £1 million for the Trust, which will strengthen and sustain its vital work in improving education, healthcare and livelihoods among those most in need.
The Westcombe Group is at its heart, a family-run business, shaped by the values and track record developed over half a century by our Founder and Chairman, Vraj Pankhania. Our journey is a powerful example of the enormous contribution that British Asian families are making to our country in every walk of life, through their hard work, entrepreneurship and commitment to giving back.
So supporting the amazing work of the British Asian Trust feels like a natural thing for us to do – as well as the right thing to do.
The Westcombe Group’s journey began in 1975 when, after arriving in the UK from Kenya, Vraj Pankhania took out a small loan from a bank to start a business. Fast forward 50 years and, from humble beginnings, that company has now grown into a business of tremendous scale, achievement and success under the leadership of myself and Sunil Pankhania.
For more than a decade, the Westcombe Group and the Westcombe Foundation have been proud supporters of the British Asian Trust and its life-changing work. We look forward to continuing that association.
